 I have found through my own expierence that when it comes to servers and hosting a website, it's not always best to go with the big company, as a developer I've tried them all 1and1, GoDaddy, Yahoo, and personally I had a terrible expierence from all them, I recently moved over to smaller company named OsoLabs with servers here is Orange County. The best way I can describe the difference between Osolabs and the others is, when i need assistance everyone at the company already knows all my sites, and i swear sometimes i think they monitor my sites more then i do.. ANyways there offering a free month of hosting you should check it out.
